1. Heat the ovenPreheat to 170°C, or 160°C fan. Line a small baking tin, about 20cm square, with baking paper.
2. Melt butter and chocolateMelt the butter and dark chocolate chips gently, either in short microwave bursts or over a bain-marie. Stir until smooth, then let it cool for a minute or two so it is warm rather than hot.
3. Whisk eggs and sugarWhisk the eggs and sugar just until slightly thickened and glossy. No need to go wild here — this is a dense brownie slice, not a fluffy cake.
4. CombinePour the chocolate mixture into the eggs and sugar. Stir gently until combined.
5. Add dry ingredientsAdd the cocoa powder, flour, almond meal and salt. Fold gently until there are no dry streaks. The batter will be thick — that is what you want.
6. Top and bakeSpread the batter into the lined tin. Just before baking, sprinkle the top with extra chocolate chips and a little flaky sea salt. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, until the edges are set and the middle still has a slight wobble.
7. Cool completelyLet it cool completely in the tin. It firms up and becomes fudgier as it cools.
